My apologies. I owe the blog a long overdue update, specifically, for previous Saturday. So here it is. 070707 was one of those ultra special days in the year, with many important events all happening on the same day. One of which happened to be World Archdiocesan Youth Day. It was my first time going for such an event, and I was ushering with a whole bunch of cj ppl as well. So naturally, I had to report at the expo slightly before noon. I took the train with shan, and we met guin(quite late) at expo before walking the Looooong walk to hall 2. Seriously, what what were they thinking? Hello like hall 2 is at the OTHER side of the expo! We took forever walking from the mrt. Expo should consider those flat escalators, for the welfare of all. But then again, it is the expo after all. I ought not to complain.
Back to the story. Well, basically the first part of the day was spent placing a few thousand goody bags on the seats. It was such a major event, by the looks of it. Apparently, 25 Catholic parishes were attending that day, and the seats were divided into different districts. And my grp was doing city, which was ironically, quite a small grp of ppl. But that meant less work for us. Haha.
I guess I thoroughly enjoyed myself during that event, mainly because it provided an opportunity to bond and mingle with other cjcians and of course, other parishoniers as well. I managed to know a few other people whom I see ard school but don't really know. As for Youth Day itself, it was amazing! I especially enjoyed the skit, which was a contemporary adaptation of Jonah and the Big Fish. It was hilarious. I found myself laughing my head off during the whole play. It was also good to note that it wasn't one of those skits that aimed for cheap laughs, but one that made you reflect on your choice whether of not you want to follow God's calling. 4 stars for the play!(:
I also managed to say hello to a few of the people from Risen Christ as well. Their red banner was really obvious in the dark, so it facilitated my finding them. Although I was quite disappointed that I couldn't get to escort them to the bus back, it was quite fun ushering Nativity BVM with Gabreille, who is super funny btw.
Of course, by the time we actually finished ushering and clearing up, it was way past 11 and we were getting really exhausted. But it was well worth the effort I guess. Not to mention all the cip hours we would be getting. but that is not my motivation. No really. Haha. Mind you, I gained something more than just hours from this and I am eagerly looking forward to the next Youth Day. Many thanks to Shan for the ride home, and apologies to guin for being late.
