SOLAS WON BEST HOUSE! ZOMG ZOMG UNBELIEVABLE! BEING SECOND BEST IN EVERYTHING REALLY PAID OFF (:
But perhaps, it would be better if I blogged about 01 in a more chronological order.
This year's theme for 01 was Exothermic, aptly named because firstly, we wanted the second intakers to experience the warmth of CJ and form bonds, and secondly, everyone was on a thin line that thinly veiled the boiling tempers and undercurrents of frustrutation.
I was faciling (haha, sorry Binni but habits are hard to break) for IG9 and let me just say that I absolutely adore them(:(:(: Although the guys have an endearingly annoying tendency to bully me (i.e Starch Attack for Facils) and poking fun at me because I can never remember names, it was really really REALLY an enjoyable experience to finally get some well-deserved IG time and getting to know yall. I can proudly attest to the fact that I can match most of your names to your faces despite the fact that I was game-mastering for Ninja Pirates Red Indian Ah Beng PLUS the Lifeline game at ECP on Friday. And to the second intakers in Ig9, I hope that orientation has been successful in breaking down any apprehensive-ness you may have about CJ, cos let me just assure you it's really an awesome place where you get the best out ot both worlds(work and play).
And now, for an unabashed moment to boast about the most wonderful house in the world: SOLAS.
I'm still surreal about the fact that we won, in fact it was totally unexpected because of too many loose ends, but I'm really grateful that the effort we put in (which included being the earliest house to start prep last Sunday) paid off, despite the insecurities and inferiority I felt when I watched the other houses practising their intros late into the night at the quadrangle. But this just goes to show that the underdog always has a fair chance to emerge victorious, and Solas can deeply attest to that. Thank you as well, for the many friendships I've formed with my house members and widenind my measly social circle - I still remember the unstoppable laughter of Cherie and Clare at Mel's place, the dance moves of Samuel that cracked me up ,the hysteria that only Mahna Mahna of the muppets could provide, and not forgetting the giant siew mai we never used. HAHA.
Finale Night was the ultimate madrush for the facils and myself, because I was never anticipating that right after the Solas cheer I'd have to dash for Lemon Tree and then Deal or No Deal consecutively. But through divine intevention or just plain luck, all did run smoothly (except the fact that we ended way after 6pm but then again since when did Finale end on time right?). I never got to see the Solas skit, but based on what I've been hearing, it was a pretty cute one that did not suan the other houses, that I'm glad.
I'd also like to thank my co-facil for being the awesome leader cum house captain that he is, and for looking after the IG during the numerous occasions of my absence (some of them unjustifable such as Saturday). Thank you also, for getting the lollipops. (:
I enjoyed CCA Bazaar as well! HAHA. Never in my life did I think we could pull off a recruitment drive for Baking Society cum Cooking Club, but it just goes to show that one wok, a few aprons, some left over cookies and many many straight-faced idiotic utterances of " Join Baking Society!" And "Real men and women cook!" can really give the illusion of the existence of such a CCA.
As much as I'd like to get a breather now after all the overwhelming course of events, the approaching CTs are scaring the shit out of me, and the fact that I missed out on a total of 9 days of school due to 01 and 02 is really freaking me out. I have so much to catch up on, let's just hope that the two most memorable events of this year won't become my downfall.
Here we go.
bow down, bow down, the sun's gonna get you down.

Alot to update, actually, but due to the fact that unlimited human wants (blogging) exceeds limited resources (time), scarcity exist.
Yes, scarcity of sleep to begin with.
This whole week, in fact.
Scarcity of energy.
PE has been exhausting.
But much as scarcity determines my moods nowadays, it still failed to rob me of the fervour of FARM, Valentine's Day, Rockafella and facil training.
Valentine's Day was fabulous. I only have Guin and WQ to thank, for Friendship Day's success. Not to mention the song dedications in the canteen, the distracted lessons, and the hustle and bustle of playing Cupid and delivering messages/chocolates along the corridors during breaks. Though nagging thoughts of being single and unavailable perturb me, I'm nonetheless grateful for the many friendships that I have forged in my years at IJ and CJ. Thank God for his angels in blue.
Rockafella was a captivating, spell-binding, and electrifying showcase of talents. The early turnout itself was a morale booster. Although working backstage proved to be alot more than meets the eye, I really enjoyed watching the performers at a closer level (despite the deafness) and lack of food. Andand I feel this glowing sense of pride for the 02 comm, who gathered for a mtg right after our briefing (mind you it was 11pm) for Games. Jiayou, comm members - you can do it(:
Facil training today. We learnt our mass dance. It was hilarious, both the songs and the experience of dancing when one has two left feet. Suspense for now, juniors. Went to ECP today to try the games out, and was BULLIED by Slacker. I hope you are reading this you meanie weenie, for dirtying my hair with the eeky starch. HMPH.
Dead tired when I boarded the bus back to TP, but nonetheless squeezed a Chwee Kueh session with friends. I loved the place, it's so cosy and quaint. Going back again sometime for little chit chats with my makan kakis. Haha.
Mustard Seed today as well, arrived LATE because I decided to bathe first. Paiseh! Haha. I personally enjoyed the "drinking" session we had at the kopitiam, much to the chagrin of the aunty who was trying to shoo us away since it was 10 to closing time. AHWELL.
House meeting tmr.
All's well, that starts and ends well.
I hope.

Valentine's Day has gone and past
the flowers will never last;

Well, isn't this quaint.
I'm at the peak of my unproductive best, whiling my time away in front of a blaring screen, yet perfectly aware that I will regret this approximately 24 hours later.
Charming.
I was just reading through the papers just now (luxury now, mind you, to actually have that kind to time) and scoffing at the absurdity of commercialization. Just browsing through the papers is enough to be overwhelmed by the numerous ads for the perfect Valentine's Day gift, best places for fine dining, or even the perfect attire to impress.
And here I am, still in my own little fishbowl, entertaining idealistic notions that this was a time of the union of two hearts, of the old fashioned yet rustic charm of courtship, of shy furtive glances and earnest serenading.
Of course, there will always be the quaint box of chocolates and pretty bouquet of flowers in the picture, but wouldn't you agree that everything is being just so commercialised nowadays? As what happens to every festive season, major corporations and retailer jump on the bandwagon and convince their consumers to participate in the spending culture. Sadly, we too, feel the need to fork out extorbitant amounts of money just to impress our significant others. Love is what makes the world go round, but money drives love now, does it not?
You don't need the best wine in town to make her drunk with happiness.
You don't need a reservation in the swankiest dining place to impress her.
You don't need to look your Sunday best when you take her out (although, scruffiness is never justified)
Just take her hand,
and she'd give you her heart.

Started as a flicker meant to be a flame
Skin has gotten thicker but it burns the same
Still a baby in a cradle got to take my first fall
Baby’s getting next to nowhere with a back against the wall.
You meant to make me happy make me sad
Want to make it better better so bad
But save your resolutions for your never new year
There is only one solution I can see here
Is there even a solution?
Muddlement can be distracting. Vidya's right, I'm super confused.
CNY celebrations in school today, with the seniors being shortchanged on their performance because we never got to see Dance! Hmph. But guess Deborah was the bestest highlight not to mention ODAC's super funny cum lame CJC butterfly song. I vaguely remember singing that hymn after recess in primary school. Andandand we tossed yusheng (did i get the name right) in the canteen with our classes! Ambitious, but it was pulled off, and it added to the festive cheer. Not to mention Brother Paul's birthday after CNY mass AND in the canteen as well. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BP!
Reason #101 why CJC is the coolest place to be:
It's the only JC where you can call your principal "Brother" and not be mistaken for some wannabe.
Plus I got my IG27 shirt today! Haha. Toon and I decided to rub it in by walking up to random 01 facils and shoving our shirts in front of their noses. We also paid 1T27 a visit(: Thanks for the pizza, guys!
I wanted to back to IJ today, but then Ade called and said the school was like deserted so change of plans. Met up with Wan Xuan and Siow Kee at TP (omg long time no see!) and then went J8 with Ade for lunchies. Heh. Today was quite good(: Finally some catching up time and story telling session.
T11 class outing yesterday!(:(: Our first outing of the year was dinner at Cafe Cartel at PS last night, under the stars! Okay fine, moon and clouds too, but let's not go into the details. Came late since there was CA mass practice. And we had almost full turnout! (: Then we went to Carrefour for potluck shopping before we headed home. Relatively tame outing la, nothing wild.
Happy CNY to all Chinese, don't be a tart and pine for your apples!
And to non-Chinese, enjoy (and endure) the extended weekend yo!

Take time to realise
that your warmth is crashing down on in.
Take time to realise
that I am on your side,
didn't I, didn't I tell you
But I can't spell it out for you
No it's never gonna be that simple
No I can't spell it out for you
If you just realise what I just realised
Then we'd be perfect for each other
And will never find another
Just realised what I just realised
then we'd never have to wonder if
we missed out on each other now
Thank you Lord, for finally ridding me of my troublesome gastrich, that totally disrupted my schedule this whole week. Even though the medicine tasted utterly disgusting (the aftertaste is worse than the doxycycline I used to take), I guess it has a numbing effect on the stomach. Hopefully, I don't have to be too worried about my intake anymore.
Another week of school with all the usual common tests and council, BUT it was fun(: (at this point, pls note that the fun is not inclusive of the tests) Fun because we met the new JC1s who wil be helping out for CNY and Mash. Most of them our juniors, so foresee a spectular mass ahead ( no pressure, yo)
Facil training on Saturday was not as demanding as I thought it'd be, but I guess you can't do much when the house names are yet to be confirmed and everything is still undergoing approval. There are ALOT of guys faciling. Is this a good or bad thing? Hmm. Not that I'm a feminist, mind you.
To the 02 commitee: I know how hard pressed you guys are for time, in fact each day is a race against the clock to complete all your proposals and tying up loose ends, but HANG IN THERE ALRIGHT(: It's not easy at all, juggling schoolwork with 02 preparations but just have faith and keep your cool. We are all behind you guys. Really(:
To you: Don't be too fixated on trying to be a positive influence. You already are one. Just do the best you can, and leave the results to God (:
