Let's distract ourselves, shall we?
I forgot to update on the very eventful week that has just passed, or maybe I chose to forget. Blues aside, on Thursday most of the Lit girls (and guys omg can you believe) in my class attended Shakespeare on Love at DBS Arts Centre, Robertson Quay, 20 Merbau Road. If you are wondering how I managed to type off that whole chunkful of an address, it's probably because I spent the whole of Labour Day morning, figuring how to get even get there. Lol. I probably busted all my free outgoing asking around for help, until I gave up and just went googled it for the direction. Which in the end, turned out to be totally useless, because when I arrived at Clarke Quay MRT, we decided to cab there cos it was getting late >.<
The play was actually quite entertaining and amusing to watch; the cast articulated well and the movements in between change of scenes wa quite smooth. I thought it quite well produced if the target audience were mainly students (as was evident from the largely student turnout on that day) despite the "scathing review" on Life, as Jason puts it. Shakespeare on Love is basically a combination of 6 plays on love by Shakespeare. Personally, I enjoyed the Love at First Fight, for its witty verbal exchange between the lead, who eventually (yes we saw it coming) fall in love under a deviously hiarious trick worked up by their friends. Othello was disappointing, I expected more fury and stage presence from the Moor. The parody of the play within the play was really funny, because of the role inversion. The guys from my class really dressed up. HAHA. We ended about 10 plus, so Seren Chao and I boarded a bus to Central and bought some food from BK, before we took a train home.
Friday was Sports Carnival! Aiming and I were the first ones to arrive at CCAB from our class, everyone else was late because of the massive jam. And we got our class shirts! (: It's like Vista - simple, stunning and sensational. Hehheh. I like. Played modified handball, for like what 5 minutes. We lost, I guess cos we were mainly a girl dominated class and not very sporty to begin with. Junior class is really nice and friendly, they kept coming over to support us. Quite rahrah bunch, we lunched with them at coral with our traditional lemon chicken rice, filled up the whole room in fact. Binni popped by for awhile. I think our chattering had to pay a price, this security guard came over and told us to pipe down, if not he would complain to our secondary school.
Friday evening was quite scary actually, I think something needs to be done asap to prevent any futher incidents. But due to my constant practice of self -censorship, my fingers shall type no further. I thank God for understanding friends, who are always there to catch me if I fall. And perhaps one day the reason for all these shall be revealed to me - hopefully it's not too late by then.
"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful" - Buddha.
I'm still grateful I'm alive.
On random notes, the homosexuality talk was quite interesting hahaha. Despite the fallacies in the argument of the Buddhist monk, as Mrs Hoe sharply pointed out to us blind and deaf students. Lol. And certain incidents happening around school, which has made the situation a little awkward. Do watch boyceavenue on youtube, they have awesome acoustics and a really smooth voice!
