Unlike the surge of random spontaneous nostaglia that Offred oftens adopts in her narrative, I shall attempt to recall my week in a systematic flashback instead.
Friday
Annual Awards Ceremony. Had to wake up extra early so that I could bathe and put on my stockings, which alone is enough effort to be considered a ritual in itself. Arrived in school at 645 (like wow I don't even come that early for morning mass lor) to yep, you guessed, act polite , attentive and receptive to all the VIP and parents of prize recipients. Kind of like Singapore girls (and dudes) but without the air sickness. I think I smiled so much my mouth hurt. Then the GOH arrived complete with his security and shook our hands. Went into the audi ex, much to my dismay because I was hoping to catch the ceremony. But apparently we didn't miss much cos when Jon cae back to the SCC(where we were slacking/listening to Su's iPod/doing homework) and said the speech took quite long. Then, we went back and served the guests at the reception (mine was the VVIP area so we had ceramic cutlery and metal utensils), where the food was so temptingly appealing we couldn't wait for clearing up time. I felt guilty for helping myself to the chicken, but hey it's not like my fault they were practically screaming "eat me!" like an excited IJ girl at the netball finals.
School was pretty slack, I only had Maths lecture today. So during the break before, I went to the library to do some work. And something happened which kind of surprised me. I admit I wasn't expecting it at all, so yeah(:
Council was just as slack too, we had a half an hour meeting to discuss final wrap up :(((( before we headed to the CCAB to support the Hockey Match against RJ and Rugby Played Finals against JJ. Hockey lost, despite our loud cheering. Expected, I guess, since Raffles has been the defending champion for a decade. But the hockey players were nice enough to bow to the spectators after the game. Then walked over to the grandstands for Rugby. Now let me tell you something about this game. As much as it's exciting enough to get one all hyped up, sweaty and hurling not so polite variations of the f-word at the opponents, as much as the game itself brings together an entire college of supporters in an unifying sprit, it is HIGHLY barbaric. Never in my life have I witnessed such a brutal, despicable and unrestrained force of tackling and strangling of players on the field as they tried to intercept a ball which isn't even shaped like one to begin with. I'm telling you, rugby is legal murder, judging by the sheer uncivisilised manner there was body contact(and not in the most flattering way either). Seeing the CJ players getting struck, sprawled and having their spleen scooped out like ice kachang on the field is NOT COOL. Seeing their contorted faces grimace in pain is NOT COOL. And Miss SYT, telling me that the coach was spraying Salon Pas on their muscles is NOT FUNNY. But I admit, the game was played with much fervour, and the ruggers gave it their all and DUH WE WON!!!!:D I think the last time I screamed like this was during Orientation? Yeah I got me so excited like a girl on her first roller coaster ride.
Anti climax moment: Bringing back Camslut's extremely unglam bags of plastic bottles to school on the bus, which we were to store in the CA room, under strict instructions ("it's under my class account, hor").
I slept at 9pm which is uh, very early for me.
Thursday
The only day of the week where my timetable ends at a civilised time: 1400. But you know, karma's idea of a sick joke is to have Maths consultation thereafter(which I skipped because I thought I was having Geog consultation with KC), Geog consulation (which was cancelled because Mrs Leong wasn't free), and Council for Annual Awards briefing on Friday. The briefing wasn't long, it was rather the trying of blazers and saigang of the booklet that took up alot. of. time. I didn't realise it was getting late until Fishy called me. So dashed over to Hub to get the invites from her, then went home.
Wednesday
Volleyball for PE(: Went for the FFGCC(No I'm not swearing its the Maths GC competition) which was super demoralising cos I just realised how bad my J1 work is, and the timed conditions didn't help either. Went fot council after, taught the j1s how to set up mass and watched them plan our invest service. I'm so happy 4 of the juniors are in CA(:
and and and
Happy 18th Birthday Lynn!(: I hoped you liked Ade's no bake cheesecake which we hurriedly decorated with Hello Panda and the lonesome birthday candle and the other stuff(: Though I didn't do anything (Pepe made the card), yeah so here's a shout out to you.
Monday
Long day of school, we ended at 4 :/ Super tired, but no the day didn't end there. Went for Liturgy dry run for the setting up of mass stuff, and felt super bad cos didn't really prepare my side. Woops. Then went for tuition with Frips, Shan and YT. Monday's session is quite quiet and good, although the food isn't that good.
Yeah that's my week for you. Night study is starting next week but I doubt I can chiong it since Ma won't be at home for awhile, and Meiling has already started asking. And sorry Simeon! Ii've been bumping into quite alot but didn't say hello until you asked why. I'm not daoing! Honest!
Council term is ending, and I'm feeling quite disoriented already. Like what Marie says, it's the only thing I look forward to in school. Oh fishcake, I'm starting to miss the people and the room already.
