I thought yesterday's movie screening during Fuel session was rather insightful - yes Friday turned out to be a rather beautiful end to the week with God's presence in my life (: We watched Fireproof, which is a Christian movie (made entirely by the Christian community of Sherwood Church!) about saving a marriage. Although the acting was quite...okay, I suppose they are not A-list actors so the crying scenes acheived a humorous response, but they did manage to drive home some points which I thought was relevant.
1) The concept of "fireproof": just because something is fireproof, doesn't mean there will be no fire -it simply means that we need to be able to withstand the fire when it does arrive. This made alot of sense metaphorically, because we always assume life to be full of "what-ifs" but we never really expect the "now what"s. I think Life can be rather unpredictable because as much as we want to have control over our destiny and govern our actions and decisions, change is often something we are unprepared for.
2) How do you love someone who constantly spits on your face? The answer to this so profoundly simple it's amazing. Didn't God acheive his after all? When Jesus was left to die a sinner's death on the cross, his people showed neither love nor compassion for him - they accused him of crimes he didn't commit. Yet, he didn't bear a grudge against us, in fact what Jesus did was to ask his Father to forgive us despite our failings. Being nice to another being who doesn't seem to deserve our respect or kindness - this isn't a sign of weakness as originally perceived by me. On the contrary, being meek is strength in itself because we don't want to hurt others, we don't mind hurting ourselves instead. The Lion is the Lamb (:
Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.
-2 Corinthians 13:9
So yes, I thought the movie was rather reflective for me. Post session times good times, I love the community feel of being able to converse and laugh silly at midnight along a road watching all the surcharge taxis hovering hopefully. Shower was most embarrasing, the jetspray is alot more stronger than me (blame hydraulic action) I nearly wet the entire floor because it spun out of control.
SashandJason, you are supposed to help me with my essay okay! I got the points now I just need to let it flowww. Deadlines are always so much manageable with friends. Can't wait for tomorrow - baking for noobs! (:
